Tobermory · Get Me Home, iOS App
Effective October 20, 2026
In short: the app uses where you are to work out how to get you home, and nothing else. Get Me Home has no accounts and no analytics. Your home and walking preferences stay on your phone. Your location is sent to a journey planner only to ask for routes home, and to Google Maps when you open the map. Your compass direction never leaves the device.
This page explains exactly what the app touches and why, so you don't have to take that on faith.
Get Me Home keeps a small amount of data on your device, using iOS's standard local app storage. It is only sent anywhere as part of the route requests described below.
Get Me Home asks for permission to use your location "while using the app" only — never in the background. Pointing you the right way is the whole point of the app, so while it's open on screen it follows your location and your phone's compass.
To find routes home, the app sends your current location and your home (postcode or pinned location) to one of these services, depending on the journey:
When you switch to the map view, the map is drawn by Google Maps. To show the streets around you, Google receives the area being shown, which is centred on where you are. This is handled by Google under the same Google Privacy Policy. The compass-only "Around me" view doesn't use Google Maps.
To tell when you're already home, the app looks up where your postcode is using Apple's location services.
These requests contain only what's needed to plan the journey — they don't include your name, an account, or any other information that identifies you personally. Get Me Home is an independent app and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by Transport for London, Google, or any transport operator.
If you're testing a pre-release version through Apple's TestFlight, Apple may share crash reports and any feedback you choose to send with the developer, under Apple's own privacy terms.
Everything above lives in the app's local storage sandbox on your device:
Get Me Home does not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app has no age gate because it collects no personal information from any user, regardless of age, beyond the location use described above.
If this policy ever changes — for example, if a future version adds a feature that touches data differently — the date at the top of this page will update, and the change will be described here in plain terms.
